Clinical Nurse Specialist – Theatre
Our client, a private hospital located in Durban (Overport), is currently seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Theatre to focus on delivering high-quality, competent nursing care.
Role Summary
The incumbent acts as a clinical resource and leader in a particular clinical specialty, performing functions at an advanced level competently and consistently. Sound and contemporary knowledge of the area of specialty, together with and advanced understanding of professional nursing, health care delivery and programme planning, allows the CNS to fulfil the following primary roles:
- Advanced clinical care
- Consultation as a source of expert knowledge
- Clinical teaching of staff and learners
- Research
- Leadership
Inherent Requirements
- Professional Nurse registered with the South African Nursing Council
- A Post Basic Qualification in the area of specialty or evidence of competent experience in that field.
- 2 years’ experience in Theatre is essential.
- Critical eye, improvement (area of improvement) and action plans including involvement processes.
- Experience in basic ward administration.
- Must demonstrate advanced understanding of clinical governance and best practise processes, policies and risk profiles in the specialty.
- Knowledge of Core standards, National Guidelines.
- Required to be able to apply critical nursing skills and judgement across a range of variable situations and be able anticipate problems.
- Must be able to influence, motivate, develop and lead the team to ensure quality and productive clinical and professional nursing care.
- Must demonstrate an ability to contribute to and utilize research.
- Strong mentorship skills.
- Must demonstrate willingness to teach, and actively participation in teaching and sharing knowledge and skills.
